Name : Belle and Jesse
Breed : Golden Retrievers
Why you first choose Akuna Care?
|
We needed the 'girls' to be cared for when we had a holiday. A trusted neighbour had cared for our older girl Jessie in previous years but had moved. When we got Belle as well, we decided it was best for them to go to a kennel and be cared for 24 hours 7 days, as the days are long if they are on their own.

Knowing Belle and Jessie are in good care. We like them having the large run and a good warm kennel for sleep or to just get away for a rest - Jessie mainly likes her quiet time. Also all the staff we have met are friendly and appear to enjoy their work. The area is clean, well run and the exercise areas are safe and great fun for dogs.

What is your favourite Belle and Jesse story?
Our eldest dog Jessie is now eleven years old, and showing some signs of slowing down. We had thought for a couple of years about getting a pup and finally did last year, when Jessie was ten, Belle came into our life July 2004 at six weeks of age. Another beautiful Golden Retriever Jessie our older girl became her mother and also regained some youth. The whole family has enjoyed watching them play, wrestle, sleep together, play tug-of-war and garden together. They are great mates. We've all watched in amazement how fast Belle grew. She still tries to Squeeze under the coffee table which she hid under when playing as a pup.
She forgets how big she is and tries to get up on our lap for a cuddle - now lays on the lounge - head on my lap and tail on my husband Peter. We've always tried to make them feel equal and not left out. They truly are part of our family.
Jessie is the quiet one - a real lady. Belle being the baby loves to get as much attention as she can. When we come home she goes to the boys bedrooms and gathers up any socks, shoes and underwear left laying on the floor. We've been telling her to take them to the laundry - she's starting to do it at times - they are very clever and enjoy giving you a 'gift' of whatever they can find. We can't imagine life without the girls they are very special.
